About
Susan O'Neill

Founder of Scent Dogs Ireland

Ever wondered what your dog could achieve with the right guidance? Meet Susan O’Neill, the driving force behind Scent Dogs Ireland, where everyday dogs become extraordinary partners.

For over 15 years, Susan has been unlocking the potential in dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities – proving that every dog has a special talent waiting to be discovered. A graduate of the prestigious Academy for Dog Trainers in San Francisco, she began her career running puppy playdates and training classes. She went on to specialise in scent work, inspired by the needs of high-energy and reactive dogs who struggled in traditional classes.

Susan has worked across a range of specialties, including training Diabetes Alert Assistance Dogs in the Netherlands and serving as Head Trainer at the DSPCA. Today, she focuses on scent work, mantrailing, and Hoopers, creating a welcoming space where dogs can use their natural talents, build confidence, and improve behaviour.

Susan’s approach is rooted in positivity and fun, and she is a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Ireland. She loves helping each human and dog team discover their unique strengths and is dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive environment. Whether you’re dealing with a reactive dog who needs a confidence boost, or an energetic pup craving a productive outlet, Susan’s training programs create lasting results.
